Waiting is not wasting. In the patient darkness, poised but prevented, dearest dreams are by courage kept alive.
And given but a vision of what the soul strains to touch, the line between hope and despair is held only by what hope is in–
The Trusted One who also waits, not prevented, but particular, curiously certain.
Whereas I, trembling on shifting sands of doubt, can only, when no light is seen, steady myself in His rock-sure grip, and make my stand on His never-wasted vows.

Janet, what a powerful poem! Well done, my friend!
Thank you Sarah. I’m glad to hear from you!
Beautiful truth! I wrote in my Bible many years ago that the the difference between hope and despair is perspective. Thank you so much for this reminder of exactly where our hope lies!
Judi, I like that! Where in the Bible did you write that? Thank you for sharing it.
Janet, I had to smile when I saw the topic of this post. “Sabbath” is exactly what I’m writing about for my new post this week as well. Even though our approaches are completely different, I love how God is speaking to both of us about it this week. Your poem is food for the soul. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Linda! We are humming the same tune! Sabbath Quiet will be my Sunday offering.
